TLC and Mackin to Offer Full MackinVIA Content Integration

 In Press Releases

June 21, 2018 – Inwood, W.Va. – The Library Corporation (TLC) has partnered with Mackin, the creators of MackinVIA, a complete digital content management system, to launch an integration of services within TLC’s eIntegration and the MackinVIA eResource platform.

MackinVIA provides school and public library users with access to more than 2 million digital holdings, including eBooks, read-alongs, audiobooks, databases and videos. The age-appropriate content accessed through MackinVIA is geared toward grades Pre-K to 12, giving students an even greater choice of items beyond the library’s holdings to search and check out.

TLC and Mackin worked together to offer full integration of MackinVIA capabilities in LS2 PAC. TLC is the first automation vendor to offer this fully integrated service, which seamlessly functions through the LS2 PAC interface.

This service, now part of TLC’s eIntegration offerings, enables school and library users to perform MackinVIA functions from within their library account, providing access to the library’s digital resources anytime, anywhere.  Users can view all of the library’s digital titles alongside its physical titles. Students can check out and download MackinVIA items, place holds, and return items.  Additionally, the catalog captures circulation statistics, presenting librarians with a real-time view of resource usage. Since everything occurs via the seamless interface between LS2 PAC and MackinVIA, borrowers need not perform a separate login.

Borrowers can view and manage MackinVIA items right alongside a library’s other offerings. “We are excited about this new partnership as it aligns with our goal of making access to all eResources through MackinVIA seamless and one source accessible” says Mesa Heise, Mackin’s Director of Digital Resources.

Of the new partnership, TLC CEO Annette Harwood Murphy said, “TLC recently began working with Mackin to become first to fully integrate the two products.  The partnership greatly increases what libraries can offer to borrowers, but in a way that is easy, convenient, and powerful.”
