What is ESSER?

On March 11, 2021, the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act was signed into law providing a $1.9 trillion package of assistance measures. This includes $122 billion for the ARP Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) Fund.

How can I use ESSER funding?

Under the American Rescue Plan Act, ESSER III, school districts are required to spend at least 20% of their allocation to “address learning loss through the implementation of evidence-based interventions…[that] respond to students’ social, emotional, and academic needs.”

How can I learn more about the ESSER funding guidelines?

See the Department of Education’s Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Programs FAQ for more details on using ESSER funding to help respond to the pandemic and transition back to in-person learning.

Mackin helps schools and districts meet the social, emotional, mental health, and academic needs of students with diverse classroom resources and summer enrichment materials.
