Mackin.com Title Match

 In Mackin, Tech News

The goal of this release was to introduce enhancements to TitleMatch, convert more list management tools to the new Search site, retire the “Basic View” of lists, and address reported bugs and issues.

TitleMatch levels – TitleMatch on Mackin.com has been enhanced to indicate exact and possible matches on current lists and submitted lists. In the past, exact ISBN matches on current lists were indicated with a green L, and a black S was used to indicate exact ISBN matches on submitted lists. However, this was not enough information to avoid ordering the same title in a different format as possible matches were not captured.

To give our users enhanced TitleMatch information, we’ve created exact matches and possible matches for current lists and submitted lists. These will be indicated with green Es and Ps for current lists. Likewise, matches on submitted lists will be indicated with black Es and Ps.

We’ve taken that same logic and applied it to our collection matches. Exact ISBN matches will be indicated with a red E. Possible matches will be indicated with a blue or gray P.

Here is the complete list of icons and their meanings. Notice the colors are still the same, but the letters E and P are meant to indicate exact or possible.

TitleMatch popup scrolling – The popup for TitleMatch icons now requires a click to open and a click to close. In addition, scrolling has been enabled inside the popup when the content exceeds the visible window. This is important for district-level users who are working with many parallel lists or have many collections activated for TitleMatch.

Searching for Mackin Title Lists – It’s now easier to search exclusively for Mackin Title Lists. It is not necessary to go to the Title Lists page for the special search field. Now users can simply select “Mackin Title Lists” as the search type in the main search field. This will execute a keyword search of titles, descriptions, and classifications of our prepared lists created by our in-house Librarians.

As the user is typing, the system will suggest Mackin Title Lists in our database.

Print List – The printing function for lists has been refactored for the new site. There may be some aesthetic changes, but we have retained as much of the look and feel of the old print function as possible. Important differences to note:

    • Instead of bindings or formats, Products are now displayed
  • Column order follows the same display order as the List Detail page
  • Extended Price and Alt Genre have been added to Comprehensive Print option
  • User Added titles and Unavailable titles have separate sections at the end of the printout
  • The title limit is 2,500 items. Lists larger than 2,500 items would need to be split up into smaller lists. Another option is to use the export feature and then print.
  • Filtered lists cannot be printed at this time, but will be a feature developed in the future

Forward List – This important feature has been completely converted to the new site without losing any functionality. The form supports up to ten users. Emails are validated, but non-conforming users are still supported. Optional email notifications are still available. Lists can even be forwarded to users who are not yet registered on Mackin.com.

Alt Genre – This data point has been added to the full record view and as an optional column on the list detail view. Please note: Alt Genre is not a sortable column.
Filter by All, Selections, Deletions – It is now possible to apply a filter to all titles in your list. Likewise, you can choose just selections or just deletions. This is useful for making changes to all titles such as adding notes, changing priority or changing quantity. This new filter option is toward the bottom of the form in the Additional Filters section.

Remove Exact Duplicates – When Dup Checking a list, a useful tool has been added to the Options menu to “Remove Exact Duplicates.” Exact duplicates are defined as items with the same record number, MackinBound attribute, and quantity. When this action is applied, exact matches are removed to leave only one of the titles – the one with a note or the newest selected.
