Graphic/Web Designer

Mackin Educational Resources is a well-established, highly respected company in the South Metro that is looking for a qualified Graphic/Web Designer.

If you have a minimum of 2+ years experience, a strong portfolio, and an eclectic variety of work from printed pieces all the way to digital designs, we have the ideal place for you.

Our exciting in-house design studio moves in several directions every day. The qualified candidate will assist with logo design, web graphics, brochure, ad, eBlast and poster design, video production and various marketing materials including the creation of a digital, app-based bi-annual company magazine.

Education & Experience:
  • 2 Year Graphic Arts degree and 2+ years experience minimum
  • Working knowledge of; Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash and CMS sites
  • Video developing and editing a plus
  • Illustration skills are a plus
Requirements:
  • Ability to work independently and with different people and departments
  • Ability to multi-task and create for several different mediums
  • Must have excellent attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
  • Ability to receive and listen to critiquing of work
  • Ability to contribute to the creative process along with fulfilling needed daily tasks
Hours:
  • Part or Full-time positions available

Texas Sales Consultant


Mackin Educational Resources is a 30 year old Minnesota based company known nationally for providing library and classroom materials to PK-12 books, ebooks, online educational databases, audio books, and video resources to schools across the Nation. Mackin works with over 18,000+ publishers and has a database of more than 3 million printed titles and close to 200,000 eBook titles.

We are looking for qualified energetic and motivated Sales Consultants to fill sales territories in Texas.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Contact prospective customers and effectively communicate Mackin’s numerous services in a defined territory
  • Create custom design services to fit customer needs
  • Develop customers, facilitate orders and establish firm relationships with new and existing customers
  • Follow up on leads from multiple sources
  • Achieve targeted sales goals
Requirements:
  • Ability to Market product(s) that creates sales results
  • Great understanding of the Customer’s needs and the principles and processes for providing excellent Customer Service
  • Ability to work independently, manage a defined territory and work with different people and departments
  • Ability to learn, develop product knowledge and react quickly
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills that will result in high closure rates
  • Understanding of library practices
Education & Experience:
  • Minimum of 4+ years Sales Experience

Mackin Educational Resources has a number of immediate Seasonal / On Call job openings for candidates that meet our requirements for both the Book Processing and Book Shelving job duties listed below; these jobs have the possibility of becoming Part Time.

Book Processors – Seasonal / On Call


Responsibilities:
  • Our Book Processors are responsible for accurately and efficiently applying plastic protective book coverings, labels, pockets and other miscellaneous materials to books and non print materials.
Requirements:
  • Able to read, understand and perform written and oral instructions with a strong attention to detail
  • Able to repetitively move hands, fingers and arms in coordinated fashion to grasp, manipulate and assemble objects in a precise manner
  • Able to remain in a seated position for 60 minutes or longer at a time
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Day Shifts Open:

Monday – Friday
Starting times between 8am and 9:30am
Ending times between 1pm and 3pm

OR

Four day workweeks
Starting times between 8am and 8:30am
Ending times between 3pm and 3:30pm

Afternoon Shifts Open:
12+ hours, shifts begin at 3:00pm or 4:00pm for a minimum of 4 hours shifts


Book Shelvers – Seasonal / On Call


Responsibilities:
  • Our Book Shelvers are responsible for accurately sorting, shelving, and pulling books on our warehouse shelves. All books are in alphabetical order by title
Requirements:
  • Great attention to detail and ability to follow written and oral directions in order to make sure books are being placed in the correct alphabetical order
  • Ability to stand - walk - bend - reach repeatedly throughout a shift
  • Able to push / pull roll carts containing books
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Day Shifts Open:
Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 4:00pm

Afternoon Shifts Open:
12+ hours, shifts begin at 3:00pm or 4:00pm for a minimum of 4 hours shifts


Starting Salary: $8.00 per hour

Specification Analyst


Our Specifications department is looking to add a qualified full-time or part-time person to join their team.

Education & Experience:
  • BA degree or equivalent
  • MLS or MLIS Degree a plus
  • K-12 Library experience and/or familiarity with MARC records a plus
  • Knowledge of Dewey Decimal Classification system
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Responsibilities include:
  • Process library and curriculum specifications: compile, categorize, analyze data; verify information as needed
  • Use of computers and programs: Use computers and computer systems to enter data, set up functions, and process and organize information
  • Documenting/Recording Information: Enter and maintain information in written and electronic form
  • Make Decisions and Solve Problems: Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Thinking Creatively: Finding ways to utilize current system options to meet customer needs and solve customer problems
  • Communicating with supervisors and co-workers: Providing information to supervisors or co-workers by telephone, in written form, email or in person
